2011 Staff
It is with great pleasure that ATX Winterguard announces our staff for 2011! We have several returning staff members, and some new faces to welcome as well!
Returning as directors: Michael J. Vazquez and Judy Easton! Michael will continue in his role as administrative director and "Papa Smurf", and Judy will continue her role as Staff Coordinator with her eye on the design process.
New to ATX: Jude Boughton! Fresh from Pennsylvania, Jude will bring his design expertise to the heart of Texas. Known for his work with Blackwatch Colorguard, Glassmen, Phantom Regiment, and now Spirit drum corps, Jude plans to make 2011 ATX's best year so far!
Also new to ATX this season are Bucky Flores and Abel Vasquez. Bucky has years of experience teaching at all levels of guard, including serving as Rifle instructor for the Crossmen drum corps in 2007. Abel Vasquez brings his unique vision of sabre technique to the program! Abel teaches summer camps all over Texas, and we are glad they decided to join us this season!
Two other new faces include Dominique Oxner and Meghan Thomas. Dominique comes fresh from 2 years of spinning with Identity, as well as having performed with Glassmen, and Blue Knights- her attention to detail and ability to explain things simply and quickly will make her an excellent weapon technician! Meghan Thomas is a local dance and colorguard instructor who specializes in yoga/core training and flexibility. We are happy to welcome them both to ATX!
Returning to ATX in different roles: Delia Tovar Botbol will be writing our flag work this year! Delia is currently the colorguard director for the University of Texas Longhorn Band in Austin, TX. Last year Delia served as a consultant for our program. We're glad she's back in a larger role! Troy Zapata returns as a flag technician. After serving as a performing member in 2010 until he aged out, we asked Troy to continue on as a general technician for the remainder of the season. We are excited to bring him back in a more pronounced position!
Also returning: Moses Ramos - Movement Choreographer, Joel Taylor - Rifle, Christina Burbank - performance consultant.
